The Far North Quilt Trail was initiated on the traditional territories of the Dena Peoples of the lower Tanana River - we gratefully acknowledge this in thanks to the original inhabitants that stewarded this land since time immemorial.
Welcome Star

Sandy Lachman’s Welcome Star is her very first barn quilt, and she couldn’t be more excited to share it as the 63rd addition to the Far North Quilt Trail.
Drawn to the simplicity of the design, Sandy chose colors that harmonize with her Fairbanks shed and the garden boxes beside it, creating a small, vibrant corner of art in her everyday landscape. Photographed in both the lush greenery of summer and the sparkling quiet of winter snow, Welcome Star transforms with the seasons, offering a cheerful, welcoming presence all year long.

Joining the Quilt Trail is about more than painting a quilt—it’s about connecting with a network of artists, neighbors, and visitors across Alaska, and contributing her own story to a statewide celebration of community, creativity, and shared labor.
