The Far North Quilt Trail was initiated on the traditional territories of the Dena Peoples of the lower Tanana River - we gratefully acknowledge this in thanks to the original inhabitants that stewarded this land since time immemorial.
Kansas Dugout and Rolling Star
painted by
Callie and Niah Stateswitch
August 2021
"Callie (age 8) painted the Kansas Dugout and Niah (age 11) painted the Rolling Star pattern. After looking through lots of books and images online, these were the ones they chose. We had lots of exterior paint left over from painting our rental cabins and our house so they used those colors". - Marla Statscewich
Callie and Niah participated as artists the Folk Quilt public art installation project at the Folk School in the summer of 2021. It has been so neat to see these two young artists continue on with the project and create their own custom barn quilts. Bravo! - Somer Hahm
