The Far North Quilt Trail was initiated on the traditional territories of the Dena Peoples of the lower Tanana River - we gratefully acknowledge this in thanks to the original inhabitants that stewarded this land since time immemorial.
This "Log Cabin" quilt was commissioned privately by Robin Feinman, a local artist, art teacher and avid supporter of the arts in Fairbanks. The quilt was created in honor of her longtime friend Joel Switzer, who perished in a tragic accident in the summer of 2017.
Joel was from Ohio, and his parents were great barn quilt enthusiasts. He also spent much of his time building log cabins. We hung this quilt on the side of Robin's studio, and it can be seen perfectly from the view out of her kitchen window.
